I've been using the same MOT test garage for 15 years, and 'massaging' the handbrake figures to get a pass has been a regular feature of the annual test. This year, the tester said 'I don't know why we bother to do this' as he drove up towards the brake plates, but when he yanked on the handbrake we got a reading of 29% straight away! Phew.
