Welcome to TM, and well done on replacing the stop light switch. There was a big batch of switches that MMC were using that appeared to be faulty, but the newer ones do appear to be better and longer lived.
If you want a belt and braces job you have install a relay across the contacts, this reduces the current passed across the switch and thus preserves the contacts.
BTW Nice car, I assume that this is a North American Spec car? Does it have the stainless steel inner wing valences and bulkhead?
