You could hire a Kango from a hire company. That would dig out the door rail.
Also make digging up the whole floor an easier job if you decide to go that route.
For not a lot of £££ you get a good tool to make the job easier. A heavy hammer and chisel/bolster is the masochists method!
You might as well make sure the floor is good and smooth while you are at it. So much nicer when you are under the car.
I take it you will be replacing the door?
