thanks all.

the main issue is the lack of airbags, and crumple zones in the trad chassis.

the car I hit was stationary, the driver who was in it didn't even suffer whiplash

the impact speed was not that high, couldn't have been more than 40mph

my body took much of the force of the impact .. I am almost certain that the reason the passenger compartment was 'intact' (it was not) was because the engine and drivetrain was pushed up diagonally (to the passenger side) out of the way, resulting in massive and severe bruising along the outside of my left thigh.

the shattered windscreen was caused by the bonnet wings flying off.

I thought long and hard about a replacement ARP4 .. but decided once bitten, twice shy

I have replaced the Morgan with a 15 month old Mercedes SL400

I considered seriously the Aero 8 but the steering wheel, even with airbag, is too close to the body for my liking. Looking at the Aero 8 aluminium chassis, I was not convinced that it offered the level of crash protection that I want.

My 3 month adventure with Morgan is over for some time, if not forever, unfortunately.
