There are indeed many complex issues to be resolved, and I think Sospan is right, the initial introductions will probably be in 'simple' situations like HGVs on motorways at night, or very slow-moving (sub 20mph) vehicles in cities.

I've heard the moral question raised several times, but I've never heard answers to these 2 questions:

1. Has the posted dilemma ever actually been recorded as actually having happened? If so, what was the outcome?

2. The rational (and also probably instinctive) decision for a human driver would be to take the course of action which maximised their own chances of survival. Why would an autonomous car also not be expected to provide the same level of protection for its occupants?
