sherlock And a friend of mine has a 5 series which needed a replacement timing chain and I understand that some use oil in excess.
My Volvo had none such issues and ran faultlessly throughout 100,000 plus miles in my hands.

I have access to the BCA website and when I was last looking for a car I couldnt help but notice how many really high mileage cars were Volvo. I guess its the combination of good reliability and really really comfortable seats. My last one, an S60 , was the most comfortable car we have ever ridden in and that includes Rollers. Totally reliable except for the gas system ( it was lpg)fitted by Volvo themselves.

I shall have another when the current panzerwagen goes.

P.S. Just had a quick look now and there are several V70 with just under 200k miles up for auction
