The immobiliser I have fitted is the standard Rover 10AS. You may have a point with the immobiliser as the power supply that keep blowing the fuse appears the be connected to the imobiliser via the hazard switch and switched independently from the indicator circuit. I am hesitant to increase the fuse rating as I have had the car for over 10 years with no issues. All good fun!
On you second point, it is the first year the car has been laid up for the winter, a lesson well learnt never again.
