A good point Button. I loved San Francisco on the occasions I was there and I doubt it has changed much in the last 25 years (can it really be that long?).

The coastal section of Hwy 1 north of San Francisco is fantastic. When I was on 101 Freeway the speed limit was a slow 55 mph and I was accustomed to travel on divided roads at speeds closer to 70 mph so I tended to drive much faster than the law abiding Californians.

I understand that the Freeway limit is now 65 mph and that some interstate highways are now 70. I have been told that traffic on 101 in the Los Angeles region is often faster.
