I keep getting people saying they are collecting outstanding debts on behalf of student loans phoning me up. Given I am 70 years old and student loans did not exist when I was at university, I am sure they are just scammers. I say to them: "just wait while I go and get the paperwork" and leave them hanging on, wasting their money. They usually disconnect after about 5 minutes silence.
There is a lovely sound clip on Youtube of someone scamming back a telemarketer, by saying they are police investigating a murder of the person the cold caller was calling.
