trying to get a USB Bluetooth adaptor (thanks for the link Neilda) to work on the stereo which was all to no avail as it seems the connection on the head unit is actually broken.
Oh how irritating... how is it (the socket) broken? Have you tried any other devices in it - like charging your phone - just to double check?
