In all my Morgan rebuilds, I've used stainless steel fasteners unless its a highly stressed part when I will use new factory or Morgan specialist parts. Highly stressed is front and rear suspension, brakes and transmission. I don't buy fasteners from overseas either as I have access to large quantities of ex MoD fasteners. (cost negligible but getting storage grease off is messy!)

An example: I once dismantled a Plus 4 which had been in a high speed impact. The front rear spring bolts were bent into an S shape. I've no doubt that a stainless bolt would have simply sheared off.

Getting things into perspective, let us not forget that wire wheeled cars have only one nut and that's of chrome plated brass!
