Have removed the wing stay and wondered why there is no shock absorption, except a thin rubber?

Started rubbing down with 240grit thinking I would hit aluminium quickly but no, had to gouge out 2.5mm of filler but luckily no crack in the superform, see photo



Can anybody recommend a good 2 pot filler for this type of repair?
