The DC3 / C47 is a tough old bird, with over 15,000 produced in the west.
Looking about the web it seems there could be 500 airworthy examples with perhaps 200 in regular use.
First class condition and fully airworthy examples sell for £250K or so. I'll bet they are still in use long after I'm dead.
In the EU they cannot be used for paying passenger services as they cannot economically be fitted with an escape slide. Wheels down the door is
4 feet form the ground and after a belly landing the floor is about 2 feet from the ground this H&S Requirement is a bit silly....
