So far, the way I've packed for longer trips is:
- I use a suit carrier (or two) in the central vertical slot.
- then treat that central horizontal area as a flat surface, and pack bags over the vertical slot. 3x40 litre carry-on bags fit there.
- the side verticals get stuffed with a small soft bag
- the side horizontal I treat as two areas - there's a picnic rug stuffed in the upper part on one side, and a towel-roll of dog stuff on the other.
- that leaves the rest for loose jackets.
And the soft top compartment carries an umbrella... and could carry more, if needed.
oh, and Eagle Creek bags to minimise the packing volume of my stuff. 'er ladyship hasn't yet hit the point where she needs to bring less, or choose to compress with Eagle Creek.
