Contrary to belief the Caterham is the easiest car of all time to get in and out of, step over sill, stand on seat and lower yourself down, getting out just as easy.

As for MX5's. TVR's, Boxter's and the rest, all a doddle.

So buying this Morgan would be a boon in the "getting in" stakes then and easier than the lot of them?

After many hours working out why at my theory desk I now have the reason I think.
The car is fitted with a rear tonneau to hide the weather gear, hood sticks, tools and butties, and as such limits how far seats can be pushed back. The aperture for entry between the double decker bus steering wheel and seat can be measured in Thou's.

Sadly the car looks great with the cover on but this foul language on entry and disembarkment is not good. shocked2

I'm torn on what to do, Also after 3 consecutive "shin clobberings" when getting out Mrs is now giving the car looks similar to the other "things" as she calls them I've owned grin2

I still love it though lol.


I can only respond from a drivers perspective but the Elise is easy to get into once you learn the knack of falling in. Getting out requires steering wheel leverage. I didnt find the Plus 4 that difficult to get in though the door lock mechanism "got me" a couple of times. Getting out isnt bad if you can push the seat back but I cant see how it can be done at all with the seat forward, so I can see where you are coming from with the tonneau

As for the passenger side, I could have sold videos of my wife trying to get out of the Elise had I wanted a divorce that is! laugh

Going back to the tonneau issue I guess the problem is seat headrests. The trad doesnt comply with most safety laws - no airbags for example - so isnt it possible to order old style classic seats without head rests?
