My '98 +4 T16 consistently ran mid to high 30s.
Best was a 'quick' run to Curborough for the Sprint Taster Day (I was running late, so skipped the A435) - virtually 43 mpg keeping close to 3000 rpm in top wherever possible...
Kept a book in the car to log miles / fuel (and yes going by the mileometer is not a wholly accurate figure but gives a good idea if things are deteriorating). And no - I'm not retired, though it is a nice thought
