I hit a large stone about a month ago. 2002 Rover Plus8. Huge bang.
Thankfully a steel sump! Dent but no leaks. Phew!
The chassis crossmember has grounded a few times mainly speedbumps and lack of care from me.
4 years ago I grounded on an uneven surface and lost traction. The crossmember was on a rock. I had to get out and remove it. Luckily it was a loose one. No damage. It raised the rear wheels just enough to lose grip. The area it happened is now even worse but I don't go there any more. Near Arthur's Stone on Gower. Park elsewhere.
