Dont know about "nigh". Thats 23 years away and only on new all petrol vehicles.
Seems to me that its an opportunity. Any nice big V8 engined supercar bought now should appreciate. When all you can buy new will be a motorised Dyson, and when petrol prices will have fallen because demand will be low, a nice performance car from the glory days will be in demand.
Mind you I will be 95 at that point so I cant imagine I will be driving even if I know what day of the week it is.
One final comment. I wonder if the powers that be have done any worthwhile analysis of the lifetime pollution effects of modern cars or are simply following an eco freek bandwagon. And have they ever thought about the pollution effect of all the anti car actions they take, the deliberate traffic delays, the stop start motoring they encourage.
