GeoffR, who lurks here, bought a Plus4 with power steering already fitted. His verdict (when last I spoke to him about it) is that it's not something he would normally have considered, and he wouldn't have spent the money himself, but now that he has it he's glad he's got it.
I fitted Mulfab springs and bearings some years ago, but I found it exacerbated the tendency of my car to exhibit the Malvern Dance, so I went back to the damper blades.
More modern cars with steering racks don't suffer this problem anything like as much - so Glenn's experience has been much better, and I know many others who swear by the Mulfab front end setup.
Conclusion? If your steering and suspension is in tip-top condition, and you still find the steering too heavy, then the power steering does work well - assuming your wallet is braced and ready for the shock!
