I often wonder at the component credibility of older cars. At some stage the electrics would need a good looking at if not replacement due to insulation ageing, corrosion. Same for fuel system with perishable rubber pipes/seals. Brakes too for seals/pipework/fluid/calipers/drums.
This has potential to hit low mileage older cars not just high mileage ones.
As for metal bits, other than corrosion due to poor storage then high mileage cars could have fatigue failure starting to occur.
How many of us would go up in an old plane that had not been serviced correctly with components replaced at pre-determined times?
