That was my first thought too but both Oakmere and BHM said that the ECU would not allow the engine to turn over without that fuse.
Both companies assure me that the engine will not come to any harm when it's started after a long layup as long as I don't touch the accelerator for a minute or two.
However I'd be much happier if I could turn it over and not fire it up until sufficient oil has circulated but maybe that's just me having an old fashioned view of cars.
