Me too. I've had my 4/4 for getting on for 20 years, I've worked on it and developed it, and it now goes like dermot off a shovel. The costs are long since absorbed, the car doesn't owe me anything, but because it's so old and non-standard the trade-in value wouldn't be very high - which means the cost to change would be.

And just exactly how much 'better' would a new or recent car be? How much worse would my ownership experience be? I can sling my old thing around willy-nilly, I have no fears about scratching or denting the thing, but I'd be paranoid about looking after a new car, and be seriously p*ss*d off if anything went wrong with it.

To replace my car I'd have to go to a Roadster and would probably be looking at making a £40k hole in my pension pot - which means committing to working for another 4 years to plug the hole.

Frankly for me, I'm struggling to see any upside to changing. YMMV, of course...
