I just completed the addition of mesh pockets on each side panel. I used 1" x 1/16" aluminum strip as a backer and pop-riveted it through the coco mat side panels using 1/8" rivets and backup washers. I then used heavy duty velcro to attach it to the side body panels and to keep the aluminum backers away from the body sides just a bit. Seems to stick in fairly well, and the frame tubes also help hold the edges. We'll see how they actually work in practice, but should hold a phone or papers OK.

Mesh pockets have a plastic frame that needs to be "stretched" across the top to make it square.
