I thought the ANPR system had put a stop to all these untaxed/uninsured vehicles on the road?
In theory yes in practice NO. The DVLA data base is wildly out of date, who is supposed to enforce it ? there aren't enough police officers to deal with current crime levels and road traffic collisions and offences let alone become tax collectors. The DVLA aren't able to monitor every ANPR camera in the country and even if they did they don't have sufficient enforcement officers. It's a complete cock up, never was going to work. Someones head should roll.
