I used aluminium rivenuts with stainless countersunk screws (so no nuts underneath).
Single sided SA neoprene applied to the strips to prevent water getting between the strips and the running board. Easy to remove when required.
What about corrosion between the alloy rivnuts and the stainless screws?
Fair point but the rivnuts should last many years and are easy to drill out and replace if they do corrode, could not source alloy screws at the time and not sure if the threads would have been man enough (can you use that term these days?).
