An umbrella is handy. I have put one up when caught in a shower at lights in Mumbles. Got a few smiles and stares!
I have a Morgan golf brolly and it is a good one. Stewart, the cheap ones are cheap for a reason! I have had a couple out of necessity and they were basically throwaways.
I also carry a couple of small collapsibles in the Mog as they stow away easily.
