Conventional wisdom is that the Plus 4 (and now the Roadster) is more nimble and lighter to throw around than the Plus 8. Plus 8s have been built on Plus 4 chassis to achieve this effect.
Of course adding wider, lower profile tyres, smaller steering wheels and quick racks have a big effect on the feel of the car too, and the Plus 8 can need broad shoulders if you do all that.
