Meanwhile, someone I know was recently fired by his American employers for telling someone that they 'looked nice yesterday' - apparently this made the person uncomfortable and he was dismissed for not maintaining the values of the company.
I think they sacked the wrong person. That is unless there was something more behind it.
Intelligent people quite often have the most bizarre views - I was at a dinner party not long ago when someone (a lawyer no less) held the view that women were partly responsible for being raped. That an intelligent person could hold such a view was deeply shocking- and it reminded me that under the surface, monsters lurk.
I do not condone rape in any way and obviously I was not party to this particular conversation, but I have to say that I have often seen young women dressed in a way that is bound to attract, sometimes unwanted, attention. Whilst it should be possible for anyone to dress however they like at any time even a lamb would have more sense than to enter a lion's den late at night.
