Too many of these "driver aids" nobody asked for & then the excuse to charge you more for it.
The motor industry has got a massive problem on their hands. They build cars that are perfectly capable of being driven for 20 years / 250k miles or more, and yet they couldn't survive if everyone did that. They can subtly encourage people to crash them frequently by giving them performance envelopes far beyond most people's ability to control them, but that's about it - apart from peddling a couple of very powerful myths:
1 - You've got to have the latest model otherwise people will think you're a failure
and
2 - You've got to get rid of a car after a couple of years otherwise the running costs will be greater than the car is worth
..and of course their last-ditch attempt to get people to drive cars they can't afford and don't need, by persuading them to rent them instead.
What a simply splendid way to gobble up resources for no benefit.
