A little trick I always use when drilling "big" holes is to drill a small hole first to double check the positional accuracy and it's easier to make sure the smaller drill doesn't slip or drift off centre.

Then the small hole acts like a pilot hole to locate the "big" drill.

I put the word "big" in parenthesis because what seems like a big drill to one man might seem like a small drill to another man, or woman.
