I only have experience of AVO's which are very sensitive to adjustment. On the softest setting they gave front end float but on 4 clicks they are spot on for me.
Springs? well - remember the limited travel. Under 2 inches, and you don't want to be bottoming out all the time. Chassis twist and the tyres take up a fair bit of movement. Keep the tyres in the 22 or 23psi zone.
