I had forgotten about this Nick.I did buy the proper BMW oil and had mine changed too at the last service.

It's probably the placebo effect but I did think it felt slightly smoother when done. Bizarrely, I'm sure the gear lever does not get quite so hot after a period of use - go figure... confused2
