Pity I didn't read this earlier. Last year, I swapped out a single system for a friend of mine with a 1994 Plus 8 (when he opted for a headers, twin exhaust and a good chip). Still have all the old parts in the garage downstairs waiting for me to dump them. They are perfect still..Florida car.

You can get a suitable silencer almost anywhere. Should cost you about 40 GBP in mild steel. Not much of a market in the Morgan trade for non-stainless.

Sure. Exhaust sound is a function of the manifolds, the pipe bore, the pipe length, the silencer, the engine dynamics, the resonators, the diameter of the end piece and whether you have a twin or single system.

Your question is about sound not power. There are few automobile sounds in the world as lovely as a V8 makes. It actually saved the MMC in 1968.

You can shape it to your liking. Why not experiment? In your case, I would toss the tail resonator. Mild steel resonators rust anyway as they are too far from the heat to do anything else and they raise the pitch rather than lower it. You want STAINLESS exhaust tips with a wider bore than your pipe. That will lower the tone and enhance your burble. (smile) BTW, your burble is called overrun..

The Americans are the best at this tail tip stuff. Search their aftermarket sites using "stainless exhaust tip" as your search terms. You need a straight cut rolled edge 7" (or so) 2.25" inlet and a 2.75 to 3.25" outlet.

If can't find what you need, I will mail you one.
