Bit of a stupid basic error being in charge of a high vehicle
Rule no. 1 - avoid bridges lower than you
Actually years ago my company was delivering to Lincoln Court which meant getting a 7.5 tonne lorry under a stone arched gateway into a courtyard
It was too close to call so we edged carefully along with spotters looking to see if there was a chance we might hit
We were relieved to see we were clear by about 6 inches
Only problem was, that was with the van fully loaded with furniture, when we had delivered all the furniture and emptied the van, we couldn’t get out
We had to flatten all the tyres and creep back through
