Stewart, without wanting to be a bean counter, there is this difference between gloss and deepness. (I know, I just have to experience it myself). Gloss can look cheap if it looks like a mirror and blocks a full deep color away.
Gloss, as you probably mean it, can also be an expression of that certain something, a depth that can often only be achieved with the best natural wax.
It of course depends on the colour and whether it’s light or dark
I was comparing ceramic coatings, both which I’ve seen on two mid blue non metallic Morgans and comparing them to what I’ve been able to achieve on my red Morgan and my current blue Morgan
I’ve achived a ‘better’ depth of finish AND a glossier look in my opinion under artificial light scrutiny (non polarised light) but not without a lot of work
Then there is a trade off between ‘show’ or high gloss finishing and longevity
