I am about to replace the lower (Easy-up) hood mount Tenax studs with a sturdier alternative. This will entail screwing into the ash frame. To seal the holes and to prevent water penetrating into the ash via the screws I’m intending to use an outdoor silicone sealant. My question for the experts out there is: is this necessary and if so, what sealant would you recommend?
I simply used a white silicone grease on the threads of the screws: I used a Tenax stud that is fixed by 2 screws through a back plate, so if the stud brakes again it is a simple repair. Like this.
