My wipers were reluctant to start and so I took the cover off the worm and nut drive to find that the nylon gears were running dry, just redistributed the grease into the meshing surfaces and it's been fine ever since.
It could well be the extra volts are helping yours overcome the inertial drag somewhere in the drive train.
