I'd agree. I've spent a fair amount of time and money getting my 4/4 to how I want it, and I love it to bits, but if I was starting again I think I'd be looking for a Duratec +4.
But if you go back to the beginning of the thread, the budget is £20 - £25,000.
GPWM. In which case a Zetec 4/4 would be an excellent alternative.
To my mind, the big difference in characteristic between 4/4 and +4 is not the power, but the narrower tyres and the final drive ratio. 5" rims and a 4.11 diff make more a much sportier feel. 5.5 or 6" rims and a 3.7 diff make the +4 feel much more of a tourer.
