Well the rain hammered down all night, we woke to the news that the road we travelled yesterday was closed due to flooding and land slips, and that was the main road down the west coast. In view of the forecast for the day of continuous heavy rain clearing tomorrow we are staying put in Fox Glacier today.
Turns out it was a good call, the road is now closed in both directions out of here at least until tomorrow morning.
