A quick update on my labours on the remote greasing project.
I bought the kit from Harrisons in Jan, and waited until Feb when I went on a Workshop Day at BHM and arranged for them to fit the kit at the same time.
However they advised that they could not fit the Male Stud Elbow to the Lower Grease Nipple on the Kingpin, but could not explain how to resolve the problem, so I took the Kit back home, bought a pair of overalls and started to relive my youth by spending Sunday Morning lying contorted under the Morgan.
I worked out that by loosening the Shock Absorber, I might just be able to fit a Straight Connector ( as opposed to the Elbow Connector), I also found that the 'One Shot' connections had been disconnected and replaced by remote nipples.
So I reordered the required Connections from Harrisons and found that the Straight Connector could just about be fitted
with very small clearance from the Shock Absorber.
Fitting the rest of the kit was quite straightforward.
I then went to Machine Mart to get a Grease Gun, the first one was supposedly able to be filled by spooning in grease from a tub, but I found that the cylinder was too small to allow the grease to enter, so I changed it for a larger type which accepts a 400g cartridge --- this was a massive improvement.
I have now injected grease via the 4 new remote nipples and all is OK except that one of the top connections seems blocked and no amount of pressure will make the grease flow.
I noticed that the top section of the main springs and kingpins were not lubricated, is this normal? I put lube oil and grease on these top sections as they looked very dry.
So I finally got it all sorted out, many thanks to Robbie for sourcing the kit.
