Darn right Dave re the tread rubber bolting arrangement. I managed to "rescue " my front wings before the tread rubber securing arrangement destroyed the paintwork and started to corrode the wings. I removed the tread rubber and associated fastenings and binned the lot. I put small s/s button heads into the holes with nylon washers and nyloc nuts, i think the effect looks classic and the paintwork hasn't suffered from tread rubber contact. My car did only have one tread rubber on each wing.
I copied this idea. Not because of corrosion, I just could not get the tread back on. I guess I have a thing about items that are supposed to have a function and are used for decoration.
