Was it a walking beam engine? Steam engines are a thing of beauty with all the exposed moving parts.
All I've found is that ps Lincoln Castle had a triple expansion diagonal beam engine of 850 shp. She was built in the early 1940's and a little more refined than the other two sister ships used as Humber ferries.
