Yes & not much progress since in reality.
Certainly not in passenger comfort in budget economy.
. The last airliner I flew in had a roof on it.
Not always.. remember Aloha Airways Boeing 737, Flight 243.
I think the reality is that whilst technology has improved massively comfort has been sacrificed on the alter of money.
