it was my bad. it is very hard to see up where the nut was. I used the stock top bolts from the US fitment and changed over to the UK brackets. The stock bolt was a wee bit short and did not engage the plastic of the lock nut. Only when I but a new nut at Lowes and contorted myself in the parking lot fixing it, that I could see the problem. Unfortunately to fit a longer bolt I will need a lift to take the pressure off the top steering strut. Not something I could do 200 miles from home
