The car was running before being shipped and doesn't have an immobiliser. Even if it did the ignition would still switch on and the lights work, although the starter motor won't.
The inertia switch just cuts the fuel pump - the car will still turn over on the starter and all lights etc would still work.
It feels like a bad connection to the battery so I suggested they try to bypass the main battery leads with jumper leads but to no avail. I suspect an auto electrician will fairly quickly be able to track down the fault.
