I simply dont believe those studies. I regulalry use a so called Smart motorway on the way to and from the marina and it regularly snarls up as soon as they impose the limits. I have yet to see traffic flowing at anything like the 40mph limit regularly imposed. 20mph is more likely. But as soos as we get to the end of this speed limit and back to 70, the traffic spreads out and starts flowing.
If these studies were correct then stopping traffic altogether would increase traffic flow.
Disingenuousness is never a good look, mate.
