If you find the remote access works well that's good as most people have insufficient performance on their firewall/VPN system. It is normally spec'd for lots of outbound and a few remote connections so when everyone is outside pointing in it gets a hammering and goes slow.
As a suggestion we have chosen one person from each team to be the standby in case of the zombie apocalypse. If there is a case inside the office then that person is sent straight home to minimise risk. If we then have to run on a skeleton staff then everyone is sent home. The office is cleaned and then the standin gets to feel a bit lonely for a while.
