We can buy this in the supermarkets in Italy. It is the ethyl alcohol that is used for making infusions such as limoncello. I make my own limoncello and other fruit infusions. The end level of alcohol can be adjusted by the amount of sugar syrup you add at the end but it is usually between 30 and 40%. Bitter cherries left for a period in alcohol and then with syrup added become little bombs that are fantastic with some of the liqueur in a shot glass or over icecream.
