At the farm this evening to bring our horses in for the night and learned that the market price of live lambs collapsed today. Something to do with exports from UK not happening. I cannot find anything on line today about it but the fax they had received from Thirsk market following a sale of 90 lambs yesterday included the line “You were very lucky selling on Sunday”. They had sent 90 lambs to Thirsk for sale yesterday as the local markets are either closed (Newark is in financial difficulties) or no longer providing a good price (Melton Mowbray).
If this is a sustained trend, I doubt very much it will lead to lower prices in the shops - it never seems to.
