The new cars once freight, insurance , gst and compliance are taken into account must be north of $200000 which put them in some pretty rarefied company, for example Mclaren have a proper dealership here where you can walk in pay the man and pick up the keys and go, like a Toyota whilst being treated like a king , as they do in Sydney.
They have a model now not too much more expensive ...
I have not been for a ride in the CX chassis but believe it to be very capable, interestingly not really wider externally than my old plus 8
But with negligible space to put anything behind the seats where we can and do store a lot.
Insurance appears to be no problem, and since there are Toyota and BMW dealers everywhere here servicing should not be an issue, for bodywork we have a top Morgan man in Auckland though he may wish to retire one day.
I look forward to seeing Morgan's take on a new coupe in a year or two - a modern SLR hopefully.
Personally I believe that they should drop a compliant 1600-2000 cc engine in the 4/4 and keep it going till 100 years - imagine the interest at the visitor centre and with the press, also enabling a trad and affordable entrance to the Morgan world, (without the warranty and other safety issues of the M3W.)
Just my personal ramblings not wishing to offend.
Insightful and informative commentary Waikiore, thank you.
I imagine McLaren would have a strong presence in NZ being the spiritual heart of the company.
McLaren the Movie - very much worth a look...
